WHY Does RC MIX EXIST?

There are too many darn plugin companies! And a number of really, really good ones. Why do we need another one? I asked myself this same question as I began developing these tools, but quickly realized that simple, smart plugins designed specifically to make acoustic drums sound better didn’t quite exist, so here we are.

I got sick of using endless chains of vintage analog-emulating plugins to get a modern drum sound. I became frustrated with sample-replacing everything, which took the soul out of the real performance. The concept for RC MIX is to make audio plugins that are simple enough for anyone to understand: twist a few knobs and get a record-ready drum sound without having to spend a fortune or give up the humanity of a performance.

The goal at RC MIX is to focus on what computers are good at, what humans are good at, and preserve as much humanity in the musician’s performance as possible. Let’s let the computers do the math and let the humans provide the taste.

In RC SNARE, there are three parameters that use unique AUTO tech to understand each specific drum sound. The AUTO tech listens to the drum performance, finds the specific frequencies that relate to each drum, and allows the drummer/producer to tweak those directly without needing to have an audio engineering degree or understand FFT, parametric EQs, etc. Guitar players have had tools like this for decades, so why not drummers?

Every knob is designed to impart something to the sound. Nothing is subtle. Every parameter is designed to provide mojo and give the producer control over the drums in a truly musical and natural way. This is a passion project, and I truly hope that these tools help you sculpt your unique sound and make music you truly love.
